A Republican who fought and won the battle against slavery!

It is deplorable to listen to Democrats today claiming to be advocates for Black Americans (conveniently every four years) while at the same time doing nothing to equip them with the right set of tools to rise above poverty. The first black president is equally to blame stating in a recent interview with Bill O'Reily "I make speeches about this issue all of the time". Well Mr. Obama, it will take a lot more than speeches to reverse statistics like 74% of all black children are born out of wedlock and 82% of all prisoners are black. Simply throwing money at the problem will not solve the systemic cultural problems facing the black community in America.

On the other side of the isle, Republicans today ignore or fail to see that this is a huge opportunity. A chance to bring to light - that Democrats only seek to embed black Americans further into the clutches of poverty. They accomplish this goal by handing out entitlements (at the expense of the American taxpayer) and breeding a culture of dependency that will perpetuate itself forever. Further evidence was brought to light yesterday when the White House Economic Advisor to the President announced that although the CBO revealed that Obamacare will create a net loss of 2.3 million jobs, this nimrod claimed the loss of jobs will, "create an opportunity for Americans to work less." Are you kidding me? This is the administration's spin on negative economic forecasts?

For the Record

May I take a moment to remind all Americans on a bit of history.

It was our 16th President (A Republican) and a majority Republican House of Representatives that fought to abolish slavery and passed the 13th Amendment to the Constitution on January 31, 1865.
As President, Lincoln built the Republican Party into a strong national organization. Further, he rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy.

On the contrary, it was Southern Democrats who fought the Civil War at a huge loss to American lives to keep blacks enslaved and their aristocracy alive. Incidentally, they didn't want women to vote either. This is the real history of the Democratic Party in America.

Lincoln warned the South in his Inaugural Address: "In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The government will not assail you.... You have no oath registered in Heaven to destroy the government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect and defend it."

Lincoln thought secession illegal, and was willing to use force to defend Federal law and the Union. When Confederate batteries fired on Fort Sumter and forced its surrender, he called on the states for 75,000 volunteers. Four more slave states joined the Confederacy but four remained within the Union. The Civil War had begun.

The son of a Kentucky frontiersman, Lincoln had to struggle for a living and for learning. Five months before receiving his party's nomination for President, he sketched his life: Lincoln made extraordinary efforts to attain knowledge while working on a farm, splitting rails for fences, and keeping store at New Salem, Illinois. He was a captain in the Black Hawk War, spent eight years in the Illinois legislature, and rode the circuit of courts for many years. His law partner said of him, "His ambition was a little engine that knew no rest."

A Lesson Learned

So it is my humble opinion that at this stage in history, Republicans should remind our nation who it was that fought a horrific civil war to ensure that all Americans are treated equally. It was our 16th President Abraham Lincoln (a Republican) and the Republican Congress that forged this crucial battle.
Lincoln never let the world forget that the Civil War involved an even larger issue. This he stated most movingly in dedicating the military cemetery at Gettysburg: "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom--and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Don't forget that although Democrats claim to support equal rights, history has proven that to be a false promise 150 years ago and it continues today. Democrats want to perpetuate the Nanny State and the dependency it creates and continue to enslave black Americans - to get their vote. Period.
Black American's should learn from history and flee from the Democratic Party if they ever want to get the help they need - from Republican men and women willing to help them achieve the American Dream.

A Crystal Ball or a Lucky Guess?

 

In December I was alerted to a story that profiled record setting temperatures at the Antarctic Circle. The actual temperature was 135 degrees below zero. That report actually preceded the national story of a group of Global Warming zealots headed to the same spot to proove their theory that the earth is warming and is ending soon based on data collected over the past few decades.

 

Hm mm. Fast forward a few weeks and the group of Global Warming idiots had to be rescued by helicopter because a Chinese ice-breaker was forced to abandoned their rescue efforts because they got stuck in (get this) record breaking ice pack.

 

Today the entire continent of North America is under a record setting deep freeze that has not been felt in decades. So serious is this blast of cold air that weather forecasters are warning folks in the upper Midwest to stay inside and don't even try to start your cars because the anti-freeze in your vehicle is probably frozen solid.

 

What is causing this situation? 

 

Meteorologists are calling the phenomenon a Polar Vortex. For centuries this spinning mass of cold air travels clockwise in a circular motion and stays year round at the top of the globe. In what meteorologists describe as an unprecedented case, the vortex has split in half - one portion blasting south into the upper 48 states of the US and the other half blasting south into Russia.

 

So where are the global warming zealots now? You guessed it. They are glad to be warming themselves by the fire and glad as hell they were rescued. Imagine if the helicopters would have failed at their attempt ... the headline would have read ...

Feeling chilly? Here's cold comfort: You could be in East Antarctica which new data says set a record for "soul-crushing" cold. Try 135.8 degrees Fahrenheit below zero; that's 93.2 degrees below zero Celsius, which sounds only slightly toastier. Better yet, don't try it. That's so cold scientists say it hurts to breathe. A new look at NASA satellite data revealed that Earth set a new record for coldest temperature recorded. It happened in August 2010 when it hit -135.8 degrees. Then on July 31 of this year, it came close again: -135.3 degrees.

The old record had been -128.6 degrees, which is -89.2 degrees Celsius. Ice scientist Ted Scambos at the National Snow and Ice Data Center said the new record is "50 degrees colder than anything that has ever been seen in Alaska or Siberia or certainly North Dakota. It's more like you'd see on Mars on a nice summer day in the poles," Scambos said, from the American Geophysical Union scientific meeting in San Francisco Monday, where he announced the data. "I'm confident that these pockets are the coldest places on Earth." However, it won't be in the Guinness Book of World Records because these were satellite measured, not from thermometers, Scambos said. "Thank God, I don't know how exactly it feels," Scambos said. But he said scientists do routinely make naked 100 degree below zero dashes outside in the South Pole, so people can survive that temperature for about three minutes.

Most of the time researchers need to breathe through a snorkel that brings air into the coat through a sleeve and warms it up "so you don't inhale by accident" the cold air, Scambos said.
On Monday, the coldest U.S. temperature was a relatively balmy 27 degrees below zero Fahrenheit in Yellowstone, Wyo., said Jeff Masters, meteorology director of the private firm Weather Underground.

"If you want soul-crushing cold, you really have to go overseas," Scambos said in a phone interview. "It's just a whole other level of cold because on that cold plateau, conditions are perfect."
Scambos said the air is dry, the ground chilly, the skies cloudless and cold air swoops down off a dome and gets trapped in a chilly lower spot "hugging the surface and sliding around."

My take on the global warming hype is that we've only measured weather for a little over a decade and the last mini ice age was 800 years ago in Europe ... so which way is it going? Up or Down?
And in the scope of the earth's timeline, the last two decades are not even a blip on the radar.

I DON'T WORK FOR YOU!

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was quoted during a tour of one of the Obamacare call centers today (responding to those in Congress and Citizens here in America who call for her resignation), "I don't work for those who are calling for me to resign". Well Ms. Sebelius ... I am one of those Americans whose hard earned tax dollars pay your salary and I think you and the HHS employees in charge of this contract and the firm you hired to build a failed website for over $300 million dollars should be held accountable for the dismal failure ... all under your watch!
Under your failed leadership your staff had three years to implement the site and everyone else in America (with any sense) feels you have dropped the ball on the launch of the Healthcare.gov website.

IT'S JUST A WEBSITE!

 

 

The dismal failures profiled by the Obama Administration as "technical glitches" are not the most absurd issue here. And I'm not surprised White House Press Secretary Jay Carney deflected concerns from both Liberal and Conservative Media outlets and continues to ignore and avoid any discussion of accountability.

What is a huge concern is we are not firing the firm who failed. Why not? You know in the private sector had a contractor failed in this manner, the customary remedy would be to make good on the technical guarantee and complete the project to the clients total satisfaction. What is the most astounding and irresponsible remedy that Sebelius proposes is to continue to pay the contractors to fix the site. It's not their money ... they just spend, spend, spend ... and don't give a damn if it costs more!

AND WHO DO THEY BLAME?

  



Finally, the firms that are responsible for this dismal failure were called to testify today to defend their website architecture and answer questions from a host of Congressmen grandstanding to give the appearance that they are concerned. Ha! This is the group who the day after the Government Shutdown approved $1.7B to Pakistan (the country who sheltered Osama Bin Laden)

Who did they blame? The government! Wait a minute. You fail at a job that you were paid over $300 million dollars. A government that is willing to pay you more to fix what you screwed up. And you blame your client? And the most bazaar element is that the client is willing to move forward as long as nobody is held accountable and nobody reveals who is really to blame ... The Obama and the Liberal Agenda. This debacle should make you mad as hell.

And the Nominee Is ...

I can't make this stuff up ... really!

This past weekend I was one of the technical staff on the television crew covering the Baltimore Ravens football game with the Packers. The game wasn't going that well and the rain had just ended so the rest of the day was actually looking good ... except for the Ravens offense.
However, on our lunch break the generator operator came into the tent and sadly reported that his new IPad had been stolen right out of his truck. What is rather sad ... is that the crook made off with the computer with dozen's of police surrounding our location, over 50,000 football fans and within 100 yards of our TV set erected outside one of the main entrances to the stadium. Sad but true. We all thought our colleague would never see that IPad again.

Then this sad story takes an unpredictable turn. What we learned was that it is common on most IPad's that a warning message appears on the screen if you turn it on without the correct password. The note gives the person in front of the screen the owners contact information. Low and behold, within a hour the thief calls our colleague and tells him he has found his IPad and will meet him later at 9PM, "cause he can't leave the game until its over." Our colleague makes the arrangements and then comes into the tent to tell us the good news. Somehow our colleague reconsiders and decides to call the police. They come to the lunch tent and he tells the two Baltimore Police officers the story. The two officers chuckle to themselves but in a serious tone they tell our colleague in no uncertain terms ... "you are not going to meet this guy. It's a setup!"
So the two policemen wisely advise our colleague to call the thief back and tell him you are going to meet him at 2:15pm and that, "they will send an undercover officer in your place to retrieve the IPad."

Our colleague calls the thief back and describes the change in plans and says, "the boss is letting him take a taxi over to meet him." The thief agrees and then cautiously says, "you aren't going to send the cops here are you?" Our colleague replies, "Of course not!"
An hour later as the story is told by the Baltimore Police officers, "the undercover officer drove up to the meeting place and the suspect, along with three other thugs were waiting for your colleague." Further, "that the guy is a common thug, known to be a petty theft and has stolen dozens of items just like this one."

Like most criminals this guy and his thugs had nothing better to do than to steal and attempt to harm innocent law-abiding citizens. If they would simply use that energy to do something productive they might just turn out to be model citizens.

Our colleague was going to be jumped, robbed, beat-up and perhaps worse - a senseless victim of a violent crime. In this case the advice and work of the Baltimore Police Department and the careful work of these two officers probably saved our colleagues life! Thank you men!

So I guess there are several lessons to learn by this event ...

Don't leave any valuable item in plain site even if there are thousands of "good folks" around.

Call the police and don't try to be a hero or become a victim.

If you are a thief ... don't trust your victim!

Brinkmanship - WHAT CAN WE DO?

Brinkmanship 2.0

So here we are again.
Back to political brinkmanship on Capitol Hill.
No continuing resolution and no debt ceiling increase.
Millions of Americans are affected.
Congress and the President refuse to take responsibility.

What is different about the current impasse is that unlike the seventeen other Debt Ceiling crisis' the President of the United States, the leader of the free world, the Commander in Chief is unwilling to negotiate.

Unwilling to negotiate?

Yes, both President Obama (37% approval rating) and Senator Harry Reid (7% approval rating) have said repeatedly they will not negotiate.

WHAT?

Isn't that what a leader does? They negotiate and make the deal work for both parties. In most settings in corporate American boardrooms, members of organizations sit down around a conference table, they hash out their differences, find common ground and develop a solution that meets every ones best interest. That happens every day in America.
We pay our law makers on Capitol Hill a pretty good salary to do their jobs. And what do they do? They go on vacation knowing full well the CR and the Debt Ceiling was looming. How dare they! Then they return and blame each other for the crisis.

The Blame game continues!

Regardless of what side of the isle you are on something must be done to solve the impasse on Capitol Hill.

My suggestion to solve the debt ceiling crisis and the budget battle? This fall and for the mid-term elections in 2014 you and me ... all of us - can make a difference. Fire every damn one of them. No matter the party affiliation, no matter the state, no matter their record, let every single one of them know how we feel about their performance - or lack there of.
