Ressession or Depression

How Bad is it anyway?

This evening my son and I sat and watched the lead story on 60 Minutes ... a sobering look at the unemployed in a small town near Silicon Valley.
The unemployed profiled in the story included Phd's and folks with multiple degrees, they all had over 20 years of work experience; yet they have been looking for work with no hope of landing a job and collecting unemployment checks for over 99 weeks ... hence the title of the story "The 99's". National unemployment in the US is 9.9% but there in Silicon Valley it is close to 25%. That is incredible and close to the rates for the unemployed during the Great Depression. So why are we still describing the current economic situation as "Stalled" or "Stagnant"? Shouldn't we call it what it is ... A Depression. The only thing missing is the stock market crash.

My son is about to graduate with a degree in the Spring of 2011 and I am a freelance film producer. The story tonight made both of us a bit uneasy for the future of this country ... stalled in an economy that exports all of our jobs overseas to drive prices lower ... and we wonder why there are no jobs here in the US.
We need to wake-up and penalize firms for exporting jobs overseas. Jeez ... Hollywood is producing a show called "Out-Sourcing" and they think that's funny? It is policies like this ... that are killing our country.

The documentary I produced last year "BrokeMovie.com" profiled the consequences of prolonged unemployed in the US. Hundreds of thousands of homes in foreclosure and is still one of the major reasons for the crisis we face today. Zero Prime Mortgages, folks who never had the resource's to pay in the first place now a liability to Banks, Freddie and Fannie. We bailed everyone out except all of the hard working men and women who have paid their mortgages on time. Now there's talk that Fannie and Freddie may need a Trillion dollar bailout and that the foreclosures will double in 2011.

My recommendation ... let Fannie and Freddie fail and burn all of the homes in foreclosure to the ground.

A Wake-Up Call

Scott Pelly visited a town that is unlike any town in America today; where people are struggling to make ends meet. However, the folks profiled in this story this evening could be your neighbor, perhaps your co-worker who lost their job in cut-backs, professionals who had a wonderful life a few years ago. Now they have lost their homes, applied for countless jobs for years with no success, they may have lost their 401K, (their savings depleted long ago) living in a friends attic or a basement apartment with no hope of ever having the life they once knew. That is their reality ... My son and I feel so blessed but fearful for what may lie ahead.

I am hopeful that every American is given the opportunity to find a job and achieve their dreams I will say a prayer for each of them tonight.

Remember ... Electing men and women who put our country and our citizens first should be the only vote you should cast on November 2nd.

God Bless the USA

National Progressive Radio

Williams Firing Hits NPR Where It Hurts

So the backlash has begun for NPR (National Progressive Radio) and rightfully so ... firing Juan Williams for comments he made on the Bill O'Reily program on Monday. Shame on them! He simply verbalized a fear all of us have ... the fear of being on the next plane with Muslim Terrorists intent on killing innocent American citizens. Who ever says they're not concerned are lying or naive.
The timing of this firing is what I find disturbing, only hours after George Soros' $1.8 Million donation to NPR. Now we have learned that the gift came with conditions ... that NPR hire reporters to cover issues in States where Mr. Soros wants to target.

Wait a minute! Since when does a donor for a federally funded organization dictate where the funds are spent and which side of the isle the funds will benefit? When the funds come from Mr. Progressive Soros ... that is when. The second condition seems to be firing Juan Williams for what many feel is for his appearances on FOX programming.

So ... NPR gets liberal dollars from Soros and millions from US Taxpayers, now they should get ready for the backlash. Members of Congress have begun to call for an end to federal grants. Bravo! Even Whoopi Goldberg (a regular on the View) feels NPR was wrong to fire Williams. To be fair, if they get one dollar from Taxpayers their coverage and editorial balance should be equal ... covering stories from every possible perspective. However, now we know it won't include conservatives or blacks ... Shame on Them!

They don't deserve another dime from Uncle Sam and US Taxpayers.
God knows we can't afford to waist a penny since Nancy and Harry will spend it all anyway.

Don't forget to vote on November 2nd.
Get the scoundrels out!

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

This proposal needs to be more than a random email over the internet. I support and would recommend that we adopt the 28th Amendment now! This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.

An idea whose time has come

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite aristocracy which is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

Have each person contact a minimum of twenty people on their Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."

The Facts about the Guards of the Unknown Soldier

This story is worth posting on my sight because the more people who learn these facts ... the more citizens of this country will honor our Military and their service to our country and to their fallen comrades.

On Jeopardy the other night, the final question was, “How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the Tomb of the Unknowns?"

---- All three missed it --

This is really an awesome sight to watch if you've never had the chance.
Truly Fascinating!

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
1. How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the Tomb of the Unknowns and why?
21 steps: It alludes to the twenty-one gun salute which is the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.
2. How long does he hesitate after his about face to begin his return walk and why?
21 seconds for the same reason as answer number 1
3. Why are his gloves wet?
His gloves are moistened to prevent his losing his grip on the rifle.
4. Does he carry his rifle on the same shoulder all the time and , if not, why not?
He carries the rifle on the shoulder away from the tomb. After his march across the path, he executes an about face and moves the rifle to the outside shoulder..
5. How often are the guards changed?
Guards are changed every thirty minutes, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
6. What are the physical traits of the guard limited to?
For a person to apply for guard duty at the tomb, he must be between 5' 10' and 6' 2' tall, and his waist size cannot exceed 30.They must commit 2 years of life to guard the tomb, live in a barracks under the tomb and cannot drink any alcohol on or off duty for the rest of their lives. They cannot swear in public for the rest of their lives and cannot disgrace the uniform or the tomb in any way. After two years, the guard is given a wreath pin that is worn on their lapel signifying they served as guard of the tomb. There are only 400 presently worn. The guard must obey these rules for the rest of their lives or give up the wreath pin. The shoes are specially made with very thick soles to keep the heat and cold from their feet. There are metal heel plates that extend to the top of the shoe in order to make the loud click as they come to a halt. There are no wrinkles, folds or lint on the uniform. Guards dress for duty in front of a full-length mirror. The first six months of duty a guard cannot talk to anyone nor watch TV. All off duty time is spent studying the 175 notable people laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery . A guard must memorize who they are and where they are interred. Among the notables are: President Taft, Joe Lewis {the boxer} Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier of WII and of Hollywood fame. Every guard spends five hours a day getting his uniforms ready for guard duty.

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM

In 2003 as Hurricane Isabelle was approaching Washington, DC, our US Senate/House took 2 days off with anticipation of the storm. On the ABC evening news, it was reported that because of the dangers from the hurricane, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment. They respectfully declined the offer, 'No way, Sir!' Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a serviceperson. The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.

God Bless and keep them.

I don't usually suggest that many stories be forwarded, but I'd be very proud if this one reached as many as possible. We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.

Global Fleecing vs Post Carbon World

Living in a Post Carbon World

I was a guest speaker this month at a Green Summit held here in Tysons Corner, Virginia featuring GREEN technologies and strategies to power our country and manage power consumption. Vendors and investors from South Korea, Denmark and other nations around the world are far ahead of introduction and adoption here in the US. Unfortunately, companies here in the US will continue to lag behind the rest of the world because the Obama administration lacks the leadership ability to draft an effective energy policy ... Uncertainty brews complacency and I don't blame US firms who choose to sit and wait.

As leaders from nations considering Global Warming legislation are meeting in Copenhagen this week amist "Climate-Gate" and the world financial crisis ... there are a few of us in this world that see a totally different scenario for 2030. Realists like me feel that the futile efforts these leaders will attempt will not make any difference to the climate but are sure to disrupt and destroy the delicate balance of the world financial situation in ways that will harm us for decades.

Despite what climatolgists will argue this week debating both the data available to us (which incidentally is less than 150 years of data) and what was destroyed ... it will make no difference at all. In fact, the relationship to the Earth's billion year timeline to the data that scientists utilize to predict the climate crisis is a tiny blip on the radar. As an example, history has recorded that there was a mini ICE AGE in Europe just 800 years ago. The Earth influenced by our place in the solar system has been shifting and changing for billions of years.

Besides, we will run out of carbon based fuels way before World Leaders will have any effect. Wow ... that's a powerful statement! So why are politicians and scientists waisting their time this week? Because enviornmentalists are convinced that the human element is the only reason for the increase in world wide CO2 levels. Behind alarmists like Al Gore they are fleecing the entire globe with flawed data. They are missing one important fact - The world has reached PEAK OIL this year and we are headed to the other side of the curve to ZERO CRUDE in our childrens life time.

Zero Crude in 2030

Matthew Simmons, David Heinberg and others have been warning our leaders for over a decade that world consumption and the depletion of know reserves is revealing a serious world-wide crisis ... ZERO CRUDE. The end of carbon fuels is at its peak and well informed Geologists are predicting an end to oil, gas and other non-renewable energy sources in less than two decades. China and India are acellerating the depletion and even with new discoveries ... incresed consumption will out-pace reserves. We are running out! The Century of cheap oil is in the Twilight of its lifespan on earth.

Change Direction Now!

President Obama and leaders on Capitol Hill have no long-term energy policy that will ensure that the US will not suffer serious consequences during our childrens lifetime. Geologists predict that even if we act today to adopt new "Green Energy" and take a path towards "Energy Independence" that there are still difficult and paniful consequences ahead ... and the longer we wait to change our habits ... the more painful the transition will be.
Cap and Trade is not that solution. Placing financial burdens on Businesses will only transfer the burden to the US taxpayer ... who are already in financial trouble. Creating another costly government program to regulate carbon emmissions is down right stupidity.

What can we do?

Adopt financial incentives and tax breaks for firms who are developing alternative energy solutions for consumers to adopt immediately.
Write local, regional and national legislation that will encourage consumers to buy wind, solar, hydro, geo-termal solutions and send the excess power back to the grid. Do not tax the power generated or place additional taxation to adopt these technologies.
Finance and build a new smart grid and give incentives to businesses who adopt "smart-power" buildings that regulate the use of power.
Cut government spending by 20% and the massive growth of government by reducing the size of every agency by 20%.
Stop building cars that run on oil and gas. Allow American auto makers one year without paying tax ... if they introduce cars that run on Hydrogen, Bio Fuels or Electricity.
Make every trip count and conserve energy. Stop running to the store 10 miles away to pick-up a stick of butter.

Zero Crude before Global Warming

Forget about Global Warming and Polar Bears ... the Bears will learn to adapt - they have for centuries. What we need to do is work very hard to wean ourselves off of OIL. This is a challenging yet realistic goal to set for America. We should abandon the heritic philosophies proposed by Former Vice President Al Gore and the alarmists who blindly follow the fleecing of the world and begin to plan and adopt a long term energy strategy immediately. To do so will lessen the burden for our children ... and in the long run advance the possibility to achieve energy independence from foreign governments that now dictate world policy with the price of a barrel of oil.
If we ran out of oil today ... can you imagine the chaos? No gas to get to work. No JetA to fuel our planes. A global crisis beyond comprehension.
On the other hand if we begin to plan for the future and adopt Wind, Solar, Hydro and other forms of energy and take the lead creating, adopting and selling these technologies to the world ... we would climb out of this financial crisis in short order and create a safer world for our children.

And Mr. Gore ... give back the Oscar!

Congress = Unlimted Debt

Did you know that Congress wants to raise the current national debt ceiling Twenty Percent to $14 Trillion Dollars?

Listen closely ... they will get their way, one way or another.

While most of the citizens of this country are either unemployed, struggling to pay their mortgages and/or busy managing their daily expenditures and cutting back on spending ... your elected officials are busy spending more money they don't have and advocating adding a whopping twenty percent to the deficit to finance their runaway spending spree.

And how do they plan to do this?

Right under our noses and despite oposition from Americans from both sides of the isle. The emergency they will create is that they will tell us that the US Government will stop operating if they don't act and raise the deficit. They will also frame it in a way so that if they don't get their way ... "the troops won't have enough money to wage war against terrorism." Sound familiar? Their plan is to pass it right away so that it happens well in advance of Mid-Term Elections during the Fall of 2010 so that we forget the Democrats increased the deficit by $4 Trillion dollars in less than a year. Wow! Thats double the spending during the Bush and Clinton Presidency's combined.

When you and I can't afford to pay our expenses ... we cut back, only spend our available resources on neccessities and many of us struggle with those issues every day. We can't just print more money that we don't have.

So why does Congress continue to spend and not cut back?

Because we continue to let it happen. Democrats (the majority in Congress) continue to spend at an alarming rate. In fact they are spending at a rate of $120 Billion per month. Republicans are at least united in their opposition ... but they can't end the madness as the minority. The Congress and the Senate can do whatever they please ... and they will despite public opinion and against the opposition of Fiscal Conservatives.

What can we do?

In 2010 and 2012 ... if we are still solvent ... CLEAN HOUSE!
ELECT ALL NEW CANDIDATES AND GET THE SCOUNDRELS OUT!

Health Care at any Cost

What's the rush?

The Senate is now debating health care legislation that will affect every American (and those here illegally) so why rush this through the Congress and the Senate just to pass a new Two Trillion Dollar entitlement program run by the US Government?

Just wait a cotton pickin minute!

First I would argue that the government doesn't have the greatest reputation with previous entitlement programs ... like Medicare that is broke and already fractured. Now there is dicussion that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are backing off of the "Public Option" in favor of expanding Medicare, adding another 40 Million uninsured and offering a "non-profit" Insurance Plan ... which will ultimately raise premiums for the 80% of Americans that pay for their own insurance and the 60% of Americans that don't want to change anything! Thank you very much keep the Change!

So why in the face of mounting opposition and adding another 10% or Two Trillion Dollars to the Twelve Trillion Dollar deficit ... would the Congress and Senate trudge onward? And by the way ... a 2 Trillion dollar plan today will end up 10 Trillion in four years doubling the current deficit.

Are leaders on Capitol  Hill not listening to the American Public and the constituients who elected them? You bet!
Are there deals and private interest groups benefiting from the close door sessions? You better beleive it!
Should we all be concerned? Yes ... all of us!

I don't dispute that there are problems with the Health Care System. But do we want the government in control? No ... we do not.
What can and should be done?

Pass sweeping tort reform ... that strangles all Doctors and raises your premiums.
Regulate the relationship between large Insurance Companies and Doctors Groups and bring back regional small doctor-owned health care ... eliminating the middle man.
End uneccesaary tests
Wipe out fraud in the Medicare System already in place.
Add common sense end-of-life solutions and prevent doctors who abuse patients wishes.
Require a Living Will for every American with every Drivers License
Close the borders and send Illegal Aliens back home.

And require transparency in Government.
And hold Obama to his word.
He promised live meetings on CSPAN during this process. Have you seen the pictures of closed door sessions? Wouldn't you like to know how they plan to spend our childrens money?

And in 2010 ... Clean House.
End the terms of every single Senator and Congressman and give new candidates with fresh ideas and an honest agenda a chance to make real "CHANGE"
